Second Creek-William (Bill) L. Daugherty, Jr., 69, passed away Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
Born Jan. 13, 1944, in Second Creek, he was the son of the late William Lee Daugherty and Betty Marie Nida Daugherty.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Alan L. Daugherty and brothers, Gary Wayne Daugherty and James E. Daugherty and his uncle, Jack McDowell.
Bill was an avid horse lover and he also enjoyed pulling tractors. In the past few years, he spent time driving horse and wagon at the Brynside Branch Farm during the pumpkin patch.
Bill is survived by: his aunt, Mary Sue McDowell; niece, Melissa Burdette (Eric); and sister-in-law, Tricia Daugherty. Cousins include Debbie Omen, Connie Lollo, Bonnie Summerford, Linda Mann, Brenda Humphreys and Mike Daugherty. In addition to family, Bill was blessed with many true friends and neighbors.
It was Bill’s wish to be cremated. A memorial service in his honor will be held Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. at Highland Park Methodist Church in Second Creek with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Highland Park Cemetery Association, c/o Robert Carter, RR 2 Box 55B, Second Creek, WV 24974.
