Mrs. Josephine Hickman OBITFairlea-Mrs. Josephine Hickman passed away at Greenbrier Manor on Tuesday morning, Oct. 8, 2013, at the age of 95.
She was born Sept. 27, 1918.
Josephine was raised and lived most of her life in Christiansburg, VA. She loved her family and enjoyed life to the fullest to the end of her life on earth.
Josephine was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Hickman; her parents, John and Eliza Howard; three brothers, Harvey, Corbert and Hobert; and three sisters, Elizabeth Howell, Zona Howard and Mary Bishop.
She is survived by: daughter, Garnett Haynes and husband Lloyd Haynes of White Sulphur Springs; granddaughter, Lottorian Stewart of North Carolina; grandsons, Tim Haynes of North Carolina and Daniel Haynes of California; four great-grandsons, one great-granddaughter, three great-great granddaughters and two great-great grandsons; sister-in-law, Athenia Hickman of Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held at First Baptist Church, 10 Church Street, in White Sulphur Springs, on Monday, Oct. 14 where Rev. Greg E. Scott officiated.
Visitation was before the service at the church.
Interment with graveside services was Tuesday, Oct. 15 at Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg, VA.
The family expresses appreciation to the Greenbrier Manor first floor staff for outstanding daily care as well as Greenbrier Valley Medical Center staff for the excellent care given during her illness.
Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
