Virginia F. Baker

White Sulphur Springs-Virginia F. Baker, 88, entered Heaven on Wednesday, June 17, 2015.

Born in Fort Spring on June 20, 1924, she was raised in Neola by her loving Ramsey family.

Virginia was a graduate of White Sulphur High School in 1944 and Charleston School of Business. She was employed by Western Union at The Greenbrier. Virginia was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, a member of CEOS, and Greater Federation of Women’s Club. She was a long time member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in White Sulphur Springs and was a supporter of the Humane Society.

Virginia enjoyed family time, her cats, writing, and painting.

Preceding her in death were: her husband, Jesse in 1982; her son, Paul in 2008; sisters, Neva, Irene and Gladys; and brothers, Eddie and Ellis.

Left to cherish her memory are: her children, Michael Baker (Elizabeth) of White Sulphur Springs and Tina Baker Kouns (Glenn) of Fort Myers, FL; grandchildren, Steve Allen, Lindsey, Sarah, Amanda, Rachael, Robert and Steve; great-grandchildren, Koralynn, Sophie, Julia, Courtney and Kyle; and also a special niece, Little Linda of Beckley.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, June 21, in the Chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, where Rev. Joseph Geiger officiated. Interment followed in the Alvon Cemetery at Alvon.

Visitation was Saturday evening, June 20, at the funeral home.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Greenbrier Humane Society.
