Murel G. Robertson
Lewisburg-Murel G. Robertson, 88, passed away Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 16, 1926, at Lewisburg to the late Spurgeon Paul and Ada Bruffey Robertson.
Murel was a veteran of WWII, Maritime service in the European Theatre Operation. He was a brick mason and a local building contractor and developer, member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ronceverte, a member of the AF & AM Masonic Lodge Greenbrier #42, Grand Chapter #21 at Ronceverte, Commandery #15 of the Knights Templar, Greenbrier Valley Shrine Club, Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, Scottish Rite Valley of Charleston.
Other than his parents, Murel was preceded in death by sister, Evilee V. Robertson and brother, Harold “Bud” Robertson.
Survivors include: his wife, Nancy Robertson of Lewisburg; son, Tony (Valerie) Hinkle of Lewisburg and their children, Brittany and Brooke; daughter, Linda (Barry) Dunbar Redmond of Atlanta, GA and their children Ryan, Kelley and Mary Ashley; brother, Joseph “Butch” Robertson of Clintonville; and niece, Rebecca Robertson of Richmond, VA.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, Feb. 19, at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg where Pastor Youel Altizer officiated. Burial follow in Rosewood Cemetery with Masonic Graveside Rites by Greenbrier Lodge # 42 AF & AM.
Visitation was Wednesday evening, Feb. 18, at the funeral home.
