Local Greenbrier County agricultural extension agent Josh Peplowski won the prestigious West Virginia Master Gardener Golden Trowel Award and was honored at the 2025 Master Gardener Conference held in early April at Canaan Valley Resort. This recognition is given by the West Virginia Master Gardener Association to an individual staff person of West Virginia Extension Service (county, regional, or state level) for their unwavering support of the West Virginia Master Gardener Program.
In addition to traveling about the county helping farmers solve their soil, livestock management, and grazing challenges, Josh avails himself as the “go to” source for the local master gardeners. He is readily available to impart his knowledge of cutting edge agricultural practices involving soil quality improvement, pest management, fruit and vegetable cultivation, and the best use practices of pesticide, herbicide, and fertilizer application.
Josh’s tireless energy and contribution to the Master Gardener Program was recognized by this award. Josh’s selection for this distinction came from a pool of applicants of 1300 master gardeners, from 46 counties, who together logged 30,000 volunteer hours and over 10,000 education hours. A well deserved recognition for Josh’s commitment and service.
