James Robert Waddell, Jr.

Union-James Robert Waddell, Jr., 61, passed away on Wednesday, Mar. 13, 2019, at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg.

Jimmy was born Jan. 8, 1958, in Tennessee, the son of the late James R. and Wanda Lee Hoke Waddell, Sr.

He was of the Protestant faith, a timber cutter with over 41 years’ experience. James was an avid hunter and fisherman, along with being an experienced mushroom hunter.

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Dorothy Mentz Waddell; sisters, Miranda Waddell of North Carolina and Wanda Bostic of Gap Mills; brother, Randy Waddell of Alta; mother-in-law, Louise Mentz of Jones Mountain Road; sisters-in- law, Edna Weikle (Sonny) of Jones Mountain Road and Phyllis Blankenship (Jim) of White Sulphur Springs; brother-in-law, Robert “Jr.” Mentz (Pam) of Jones Mountain Road; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for James were held Sunday, Mar. 17, at the Highland Community Church, Second Creek, where Pastor Freddy Bostic and Pastor Ralph Hubbard officiated. Interment followed in the church cemetery.

The family received their family and friends at the church Sunday, before the services.
