Ronceverte-Ernest Withrow, Jr, joined his wife Mary in heaven on Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, after a short illness.

Born July 13, 1924, in Sunlight, WV, he was the son of Newman Ernest Withrow and Alice Mae Fletcher Withrow.

He attended Frankford High School. He married Mary Withrow on Sept. 16, 1948, and enjoyed their life together raising three sons. After their sons were grown, they spent their extra time camping at Pipestem State Park and Paradise Campgrounds near Blue Bend. Never one to shy away from hard work, he retired as a heavy equipment operator with W&H Construction. He got great joy out of working in his garden, chopping a load of wood, or hunting deer in the winter months. He was a friend to everyone he met, where his kindness and sense of humor were always evident. A man of great faith, he lived the word of God through his actions to others.

Ernest was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Withrow; four sisters who passed away in infancy (Faye, Clara, Madeline and Halie); and two brothers, Herald (Fuzz) Withrow and Arleigh (Buck) Withrow.

He is survived by: three sons, Allen Withrow and wife Kaye, Dan Withrow and wife Pat and Doug Withrow all of Ronceverte. He was incredibly proud of his four grandchildren, Michael Withrow (Kerry), Kimeran Evans (Jeremy), Abigail Withrow and Angela Withrow; and six great-grandchildren, Logen, Kali, Kam, Kole, Hadley and Camden. He will also be missed by his nieces, nephews, cousins, friend Gwen Stevens and many others.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at the Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Ronceverte where Rev. Ron Miller officiated.

Burial was in Riverview Cemetery, Ronceverte.

The family received friends Monday evening, Feb. 24 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Chris Baker Scholarship Fund c/o DSLCC Foundation, 1000 Dabney Dr., Clifton Forge, VA 24422 or Carroll Hill Cemetery Fund c/o Danita Moore, HC 34 Box 362 AAA, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
