Zelda May Holcomb Brookman

Alderson-Zelma May Holcomb Brookman, 82, passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2016, at the Peyton Hospice House, Lewisburg, following a long illness.
Born Mar. 29, 1934, in Alderson, she was the daughter of the late John Newman and Cora Kerns Holcomb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Lilly Eggleston, Catherine Baker and Virginia Keen; and several half-brothers.
Mrs. Brookman was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. She was a very caring and loving woman, who loved to take care of her family and friends, and those in need.
Survivors include: her husband of 66 years, Richard E. Brookman of Alderson; three sons, Richard Brookman of Alderson, Jimmy Brookman of Alderson and John Brookman of Alderson; three daughters, Carolyn Jones of Ronceverte, Betty Brookman of Alderson and Kathy Longanacre of Alderson; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
In honor of Mrs. Brookman’s wishes her body has been cremated. Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, June 24, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson.
Private interment will be at the Alderson Cemetery in Alderson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, for the care that Mrs. Brookman received.
