The West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine (WVSOM) invites members of the public to sign up to receive complimentary osteopathic evaluations and manipulative treatment in January or February 2026.
The school is accepting appointments for its annual Student Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Clinic, which will take place on successive Wednesdays in two series of sessions. Through the clinic, students under physician supervision see patients in the Clinical Evaluation Center on WVSOM’s Lewisburg campus.
The first series will take place in four sessions on Jan. 7, Jan. 14, Jan. 21 and Jan. 28, 2026, while the second session will take place in three sessions on Feb. 4, Feb. 11 and Feb. 18. Appointment times are available at 1 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. for each series.
Pamela deWilde, D.O., a faculty member in WVSOM’s Department of Osteopathic Principles and Practice, will oversee the clinic. She said it is an example of how the school and the Greenbrier County community have a mutually beneficial relationship.
“This clinic has proudly served the community for nearly two decades and provides our students with invaluable hands-on clinical experience,” deWildes aid. “If you’re interested in receiving care that can help you feel better while helping to train the next generation of physicians, please reach out to us.”
In osteopathic manipulative medicine, hands-on techniques are used to help evaluate health, alleviate pain and restore motion through stretching, placing pressure on or otherwise manipulating muscles and joints. WVSOM students learn osteopathic techniques in addition to a standard medical curriculum that allows graduates to pursue residencies in any medical specialty.
Clinic patients must have a referral from a primary care physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner prior to scheduling appointments. Additionally, the clinic is open only to individuals who do not have an open workers’ compensation, disability or motor vehicle accident claim and are not involved in injury-related litigation.
Participants are asked to wear unrestrictive clothing and to arrive 15 minutes early. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance.
To register for one of the two sessions, call 304-647-6286 or sign up at www.wvsom.edu/student-clinic.
