WSS Neighborhood Watch holds meeting

The Neighborhood Watch of White Sulphur Springs met on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at the Wish Center located in the WSS Civic Center.

This will be the location of the Mar. 5 meeting as well. The March meeting will be held at 5:50 p.m. Due to unpredictable weather, meetings will be every other month during winter.

It was a great pleasure to note the delivery of three Christmas food baskets with several randomly selected locations receiving gifts of other goodies from the WatchElf. The following items were also under discussion: plans to improve community involvement, potential donation to the food bank to help federal employees if the shutdown continues, encouraging people to follow the watch news on our community Facebook page, early discussion of the community barbecue in June, and plans to organize a coffee or dinner gathering to encourage people to have a conversation about their safety concerns in the community. A member of our police force attends when duties don’t conflict. It is an opportunity to help assess problems and work on solutions together.

The next neighborhood watch meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. on Mar. 5 at the WSS Civic Center WISH (kitchen) room. The public is invited to attend.
