Barbara Deeds reported on the Beckley Area CEOS meeting held Feb. 6 at the New River UU Fellowship Hall in Beckley.

The members discussed plans for attending the County CEOS Council meeting on Feb. 22 at the WVU Extension Office in Fairlea. There was also discussion about projects to be done this year. It was decided to give a donation this month to “Love in a Brown Bag” for children at the Frankford Elementary School.

Birthday, Get Well and Sympathy cards were prepared for friends and neighbors. Members exchanged Valentines and Patricia Post received a Birthday card signed by the other members.

Nonperishable foods were collected for a local food pantry.

Lesson this month was “CEOS Women of West Virginia” presented by Barbara Deeds. Women highlighted in the lesson were Gertrude Humphreys, Shirley Eagan and Pat Gruber.

A Tex-Mex themed lunch was served buffet style before the business meeting with a prayer of thanks given by Burl Post.

The next meeting will be on Mar. 13 at the home of Blanche Knicely. Laura Sevy will give a talk on elder abuse with Q&A and discussion to follow.
