Ronceverte-William Henry Butler, 79, passed away at the White Sulphur Springs Center, Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018.

Born July 9, 1939, at Summersville, he was the son of the late William “Bill” and Zetta Mae Rogers Butler.

Henry worked for the WV Department of Highways for 48 years before his retirement.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his two sons, Tony Scurlock and Eugene Butler both of Ronceverte; two sisters, Helen Simpson of Texas and Betty Hughes of Summersville; and brother, Donald Butler of Summersville.

Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Aretta Butler; his little girl, Angela Butler Deskins (Darrell) of Sinks Grove; his two pride and joys, grandchildren, Micah Deskins (Lauren) of Greenville and Leah Beth Deskins of Sinks Grove; two sisters, Barbara Butler Gray Maruk of Michigan and Jean Henson of Dunbar; and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was known to many as Papaw Butler and his life was a true testimony.  He was such a kind-hearted, amazing man. His love for his family is beyond words. Daddy, you will truly be missed but you will forever live within your little girl’s heart.

Henry’s wish was to only have a graveside service that will be held at Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg, at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 11, with Rev. David Deskins officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrell and Micah Deskins, Doug Hughes, Rick Sweeney, Evan Brown and David Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Leah Deskins, Jonathan and Hank Tucker.

Online guestbook may be signed at www.morganfh.net. Arrangements by Morgan Funeral Home, Lewisburg.
