William H. “Billy” McDowell, 97, of Organ Cave, WV, passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2025.
He was born in Organ Cave on May 7, 1928, the son of the late Burnette S. McDowell and Mary E. Lipps McDowell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Richard McDowell, Bob McDowell, and James McDowell: four sisters, Emma Susan McDowell, Alice Morgan, Ruth Honaker, and Elizabeth “Peggy” Honaker.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anna A. Boggs McDowell: son, Eddie McDowell (Terri), daughter, Janet King (Kent), grandchildren, Jonathan McDowell (Elizabeth), Rebekah McDowell, Krista King, Emily Hinkle (Anthony), and Jarrod King (Dee): great-grandchildren, Jude Henry McDowell, Charlee Mae McDowell and Hattie Ann King, and several nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 10, at 2 p.m. at Zion’s Light Baptist Church in Organ Cave, WV, with the Reverend Gary Baker officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will follow in the McLean Cemetery in Organ Cave.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Avenue, Lewisburg, WV 24901.
