Wanda Mae Hinkley

Alderson-Wanda Mae Hinkley, 93, passed away Thursday, Jan. 25, 2018, at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Born May 23, 1924, at Blakers Mill, she was a daughter of the late Clarence Mason Keeney and Maude Beard Feamster Keeney.

Mrs. Hinkley was retired from the Federal Prison System following 26 years of service. She was a member and Elder of Alderson Presbyterian Church and Presbyterian Women’s Circle, a member of Alderson Women’s Club, Senior Friends at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center, Alderson Quilters, (NARFE) National Association of Retired Federal Employees and former 4-H Leader.

Preceding Mrs. Hinkley in death other than her parents were son-in-law, Fred Shields; grandson, William Joseph Hinkley; granddaughters, Christy Hinkley and Lisa Nicole Hinkley; sister, Virginia Caroline Henderson; and brother, George Edgar “Toby” Keeney.

Surviving are daughter, Pam Shields of Alderson; sons, Bobby Mason Hinkley (Diana) of Ronceverte, David S. Hinkley of Lewisburg and William Gary Hinkley of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Kevin B. Shields, Carrie Hinkley, Daniel Hinkley, Sabrina (Jamie) Hash, Ashley Shields, Matthew Hinkley (Meleena), David A. Hinkley (Azjah), Kayla (Mitchell) Stewart and Payton (Stephanie) Hinkley; 16 great-grandchildren; and her beloved cat, “Kiddo.”

Funeral services for Mrs. Hinkley were held on Sunday, Jan. 28, at the Alderson Presbyterian Church where Pastor Lanny Howe officiated. Interment was in the Blakers Mill Cemetery near Alderson.

The family received family and friends Saturday evening, Jan. 27, at the church.

In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations of sympathy to Alderson Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 126, Alderson, WV 24910.
