Virgil Alva Bowyer

Alderson-Virgil Alva Bowyer, 91, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2021, at Stonerise Lindside.

Born Aug. 28, 1930, in Wolf Creek, WV, he was the son of the late Mack and Edna Alice Hall Bowyer.

Mr. Bowyer was a member of the Flat Mountain Missionary Baptist Church and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Bowyer and sons, Roger Lee Terry, and Charles Alva Bowyer, four brothers, two sisters and a great-grandson, Braxton Byars.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Bowyer (Deborah) of Alderson, and Carl Bowyer (Karen) of Alderson; daughters, Carolyn Wilson of Alderson, and Robin Thompson (Skip) of Organ Cave; brother, Max Bowyer (Ann) of Alderson, and sister, Norma Jean Crowe (Scott) of Alderson; 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 5, at the Morgan Funeral Home Chapel, 252 Montvue Drive, Lewisburg, with Pastor Joey Morgan, and Pastor Randy Burdette officiating. Burial will follow in the Upton Cemetery at Flat Mountain.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
