Summers County lead in new business growth for July 2018 with a total of 16 new businesses, according to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office.
That equates to a 3.94 percent growth. The Secretary of State’s Business & Licensing Division reported Wirt, Wetzel, Hardy and Upshur counties also had notable growth in July.
The number of business entities in Wirt County grew from 145 to 149, with Wetzel County business entities increasing from 496 to 508. Hardy County experienced an increase in business entities from 698 to 713 and Upshur County went from 1,159 to 1,179 business entities.
Statewide, West Virginia saw a 10.98 percent growth in business registrations in the previous 12-month period. That growth was led by Summers County with 17.73 percent growth.
Wirt, Jackson, Berkeley and Braxton counties followed. Wirt County saw a 14.77 percent growth, Jackson County saw a 13.88 percent growth, Berkeley County saw a 12.94 percent growth and Braxton County saw a 12.93 percent growth in the previous 12-month period.
