The Smoot Elementary National Honor Society held a Thanksgiving meal and canned food drive during the month of November. Enough items were donated to supply 30 needy families with complete Thanksgiving meals. Each boxed meal contained a ten to twelve pound turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, yams, cranberry sauce and a pumpkin pie. The Smoot 4H Sharp Shooters donated ten complete meals to support the school’s efforts. In addition, 150 canned and boxed items were donated to the Rupert Food Pantry.
