White Sulphur Springs – Shakem Jahmal Atkinson, 25, passed away Sunday, Apr. 30, 2023 at Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 22, 1997 at Ronceverte, a son of Carmilla Renee’ Atkinson and Jahmal James Davis.
Shakem attended Greenbrier East High School and worked for Hardees in White Sulphur Springs.
He is survived by his mother, Carmilla Renee’ Atkinson; father, Jahmal James Davis; grandmothers, Jettina Davis and Alice Mary Beverly; sisters, Shania Davis and Octavia Atkinson; brothers, Marquie Atkinson, Keyshawn Brown and Andrew Jones; beloved dog, Athena; uncles, Herbert Davis, Don Dupree Davis (Shanese) and Harold Beverly; aunts, Tia Mattox and Natasha Mitchell; and great uncle, Jay Jones and wife Denise. He is also survived by nephews, Kyree Payne and Kymere Austin; niece, Kaleigh Payne; and a host of cousins and many friends.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at First Baptist Church of White Sulphur Springs, with Pastor Yvettea Wilmer and Pastor Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs.
A visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
