Maxwelton – Donald Lee “Don” Walton, 79, died Sunday, May 7, 2023.
Born in Renick on Sept. 4, 1943, he was a son of the late Edward Alpine and Edna Catherine Halterman Walton.
Don was a graduate of Renick high School, served in the U.S. Air Force, and retired as an electrician from Hercules Incorporated Plant in Covington, VA.
His passion was to fish, hunt, and roam the country roads of West Virginia. He will always be remembered for the stories shared of fishing and hunting events he participated in throughout his life with family and friends.
He felt and experienced the true meaning of “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
Don was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Eldon, Larry, Henry and Earl Walton; and three sisters, Helen McMillion, Phyllis Miller, and Juanita Dineen.
Don is survived by one sister, Sue (John) Wyman of Lewisburg; sister-in-law, Joyce Walton of Frankford; brother-in-law, Dickie Dineen of White Sulphur Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held on Wednesday, May 10, at Morningside Cemetery, Renick, where Rev. Ron Miller officiated.
There was no visitation.
In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Greenbrier County Committee on Aging, P.O. Box 556, Rupert, WV 25984.
