Frankford-Roy Edward Bowden, 87, passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2018.

Roy was born Aug. 8, 1931, at Talcott, a son of the late Paul Preston and Grace P. Farley Bowden.

He was retired having dedicated many years to his business, Roy Bowden Moving Company where he worked on many houses and other projects. He was a member of Gethsemane Baptist Church of Frankford.

He is survived by a son, Jim Bowden (Carolyn) of Frankford; a daughter, Carol Sue Bobbitt (Butch) of Orange Co., VA; six grandchildren, Eric (Stephanie) Bobbitt, Darrell (Trish) Bobbitt, Anthony Bowden, and Amanda (Shane) Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Christopher Bobbitt, Hunter Bobbitt, Courtney Bobbitt, Corey Bobbitt, and Remington Bowden; and five sisters, Oassie Canterbury, Nannie Kounse, Margaret Cantley, Dorothy LeMaster, and Virginia Cantley. Also surviving is special friend, Betty McCutchen.

Funeral service was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, where Pastor Marshall Cochran, Pastor George Clarkson and speaker Jim McCutcheon officiated. Entombment was in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Lewisburg. Pallbearers: Jim McCutchen, John McCutchen, Eric Bobbitt, Darrell Bobbitt, Anthony Bowden and Shane Wheeler. Honorary Pallbearers: Denver Blake and Gary Morgan.

Friends called at the funeral home before the service.
