Lewisburg-Rita Posner, 92, died peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2019, surrounded by family.
Rita was born June 11, 1926, and was raised in Boston, MA.
She moved to Maryland in the early 1950’s where she and her husband, Jack Posner, raised their three children. In 1988, Rita moved to Lewisburg, where she remained an active member of the community.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Posner; three brothers: Hyman, Joseph and Jack Kovner; and sister, Ruth Siegel.
She is survived by her three children, Gail Keyes, Steve Posner and Melissa Luppino; six granddaughters, Regina Keyes-Hernandez, Rose Keyes, Laura Keyes, Adrienne Posner, Jackie Posner and Megan Luppino; great-grandsons, Christopher and Matthew Keyes-Hernandez; and great-granddaughter, Corinn Dziergowski.
Rita was very independent and stayed active until her death. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed walking, knitting, and spending time with her family. She will be remembered most for her kindness, compassion and dedication to her family.
A celebration of life/memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 22, in Berkley Springs.
