Lewisburg-Richard Karr “Dickie” McLaughlin passed away Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019, at Bowers Hospice House after several months of illness, suffering from pneumonia and blood clots.

Born Jan. 8, 1945, to Richard Karr and Jean Pritchard McLaughlin, Richard was a long-time member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church, was a graduate of Lewisburg High School, and served in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Richard retired from The Greenbrier Hotel after many years of service. He and his late wife, Lynn, were active members of Edgewood Presbyterian Church and they loved to travel. Through the years they enjoyed many trips with family and friends. He was a lover of nature, was an avid gardener, and loved to hunt and fish and hike the Appalachian Trail. He was an animal lover and he and his late wife adopted many, many cats and dogs and other animals.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn; infant sister, Betty Jean and infant brother, William Karr; several cousins, aunts, uncles, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law and several friends.

Survivors include sisters-in-law and husbands, Leila and Kenneth Boothe and Jean and James Smith; cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends. Special friends and neighbors, Judy and Harold and Wayne and Oretha.

Graveside services were held on Saturday, Oct. 26, where the Rev. Larryetta Ellis officiated at Rosewood Cemetery, and interment followed the service. He was laid to rest beside his loving wife, Lynn, parents and young siblings.
