The Town of Renick will come alive on Saturday, June 28, with a full slate of fun, food, contests and community spirit at the annual Renick Freedom Celebration, taking place at Renick Park. All activities are free and open to the public.

Festivities begin at 8 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast at the Mount Hermon Methodist Church, followed by a full schedule of entertainment and events throughout the day.

While the Horseshoe Tournament and Cornhole Tournament have been canceled due to the absence of a coordinator, horseshoe pits and cornhole boards will still be available for free play throughout the event.

The Grand Parade is a centerpiece of the celebration, with lineup beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the field across from the Post Office (entrance across from Brownstown Road). Judging begins at 11:30 a.m., and the parade steps off promptly at noon.

Following the parade, there will be special recognitions and a community welcome at 1 p.m., with live music beginning at 1:30 p.m. featuring Anne Owens and special guest Dave Heumann. Additional musical acts include Midland Trail at 3 p.m., Country Blue at 5 p.m., New Horizons at 6:30 p.m. (accompanied by free watermelon), and Ben Hersman & The Sons of the Mountains closing the evening at 8:30 p.m.

A favorite event for kids, the Teddy Bear Parade, will take place at 2 p.m. Children are invited to bring their best dressed, largest, or tiniest teddy bears. A limited number of bears will be available for those who don’t have one.

Craft lovers can participate in hands-on crafts for all ages from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m., while baking enthusiasts are invited to take part in the Renick Baking Contest, with check-in at 2 p.m. and judging at 2:30 p.m.

Baking categories include Cake, Cookie, Candy, Pie and Yeast Bread. Entries will be judged on overall appearance and taste, with cash prizes awarded: $50 for first place, $30 for second, and $20 for third.

Fun competitions include a Cookie Stacking Contest at 3:30 p.m. and a crowd-pleasing Worm Eating Contest at 4 p.m.

Attendees can also try their luck in the “Lucky Duck” drawing. Pick a duck beginning at 1:30 p.m. for a chance to win one of five gift card prizes: $100 for first place, $75 for second, $50 for third, $25 for fourth, and $10 for fifth. The drawing will be held at 7:45 p.m., and participants must be present to win. Prizes are donated by Sarah Bostic.

A Flea Market will also be open throughout the day at Renick Park, with spaces available for individuals or groups who wish to set up.

All events are weather permitting and subject to change based on volunteer availability.

For more information or updates, visit the Town of Renick’s official page or follow posted signage on-site during the event.
