The Rainelle High School Class of 1953 held their 60 year class reunion on Sept. 21 at The Greenbrier Hills Golf Course and Club House.
In spite of heavy rains and some flooding classmates were able to come and renew friendships during the social hour.
Ruby Corron Fleshman opened the reunion with a beautiful prayer. Classmembers sang the the school fight song “It’s Rainelle High School” followed by our school song “In the Hills of West Virginia.” A delicious meal followed thanks to the J and S Restaurant.
Some of the classmates toured the new elementary school.
Door prizes were given including a beautiful flower arrangement donated by Shirley Bottomly Wickline. Bricks from old school were made available to classmates as we as other memorabilia by Lee Partain.
Many thanks to Emory Daff for the fresh shelled pecans given to classsmembers; Terry McClung, manager of the Golf course for his hospitality; and last but not least, for Lee Partains’ help in setting up the room.
We closed with prayer and singing “Blessed Be the Tide That Binds.”
