Progressive CEOS – Seated: Thelma Berkley (left) and Mary Jirka; Standing: Colleen Walton (left), Lynn Humphreys, Patty Gray and Barbara Shiley

Barbara Shiley was hostess to eight members of the Progressive CEOS when they met for their reorganizational meeting in August.

Patty Gray opened the meeting with her thought for the day, “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.”

The Health Motivator Tip for the month is Brain Power. She said some things we can do to keep our brain healthy are to eat fish, whole grains, and dark greens. Also exercising regularly, sleeping well, doing puzzles and being social will help keep the brain healthy.

Colleen Walton recorded volunteer hours for the year. She will call those that weren’t present to get their hours. Patty Gray brought the traveling basket, which was filled with garden veggies, and gave it to Lynn Humphreys, who will bring it back next month. Patty Gray passed the open lines around for all to see. She also read two Thank You notes from the 4-H – one was from a camper and the other was from a leader. Both thanked us for our support.

Leadership Day will be Sept. 24 and the theme is “Remembering 4-H.”

The state meeting will be at Jackson’s Mill Oct. 2-4.

The November meeting in Rupert will be a carnival. Our club is responsible for corn hole and prizes for it.

We voted to change our meeting day from the first Tuesday to the second Tuesday, starting in February 2019.

For our October meeting we voted to change our meeting date to Tuesday, Oct. 9, due to Patty Gray being out of town.

Our September meeting will be with Kitty Loudermilk and Barbara Shiley will have the program, “Telling the Story – Native Americans in West Virginia.”

Since this was a Reorganization meeting, new officers, lessons, lesson leaders and hostesses were chosen.
