Connersville, IN – James Clinton Hoke, 79, of Connersville, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2018, surrounded by his family at home.

He was born July 28, 1939, in Second Creek, the son of the late Jabin Hoke and Annie Suzan King Hoke.

In 1963, he married Betty Jane Jones in Virginia. Together they shared 36 years of marriage before she passed on Feb. 3, 1999.

James had worked at D&M until it closed. He also cut and delivered wood. He was a hard worker and always tried to provide the best for his family. He loved being outdoors, especially fishing. He was constantly tinkering with things, trying to make them better. James was well liked and a very friendly and joking person.

He is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Jimmy) Griffin, of Connersville, IN; sister, Elizabeth Black, of Lebanon, IN; three grandchildren, Becca Parsley of Connersville, Nikki (Isaiah) Napier of Connersville, IN and James Griffin; as well as nine great-grandchildren, Gage Roberts, Kolton Griffin, Kody Griffin, MJ Griffin, Preston Hudson, Heaven Hudson, Landen Hudson, Adri Griffin, and Baby Jacob Napier on the way.

Along with his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Roy, Howard and Roger Hoke; sister, Linda Hoke; grandson, Luke Griffin; granddaughter, Melissa Isaacs; and great-grandchild, Jaiden Griffin.

A memorial service will be held at Forrest Run Community Holiness Church in West Virginia at the convenience of the family.
