Mary Liz Richmond was hostess to the Progressive CEOS when they met for their April meeting at the Extension Office. Patty Gray opened the meeting by welcoming everyone and thanking Mary Liz Richmond for being hostess.

Her thought for the month was: In 1927, the image of Herbert Hoover was sent across the country on television. The meditations were given by Barbara Shiley. Patty Gray reviewed the goals of all the committees. Faye Honaker of Continuing Ed reported we could start saving paper items for Energy Express.

WV CEOS Week is May 17-23. Patty is going to try to find a store window that will let us display our Quilt for Kids project.

The Motivator’s Tip for April is on Calcium. Barbara Shiley reported that as we age, our bodies absorb less calcium. We can get calcium from low fat dairy foods, beans, almonds and most green leafy vegetables. Eating these may help you manage your weight. Calcium may also interact with some medications. Check with your doctor before taking calcium.

Last year the club made a friendship quilt and decided to give it to a member to enjoy for one year. Kitty was the recipient last year. She brought it back and Mary Liz was the lucky one chosen to take it home with her.

We had three quilts finished for our Quilt for Kids Project. One of these was given to Colleen since the material in it was contributed by her. She was surprised but honored that the club wanted her to have it. With heartfelt thanks, she accepted it. The other two are ready to take to the Refuge Center.

There a workshop was slated at Clifton Presbyterian Church on Apr. 20. The program was on Drug Abuse and was a covered dish with a council meeting following the program.

A Thinking of You card was signed for Thelma Berkley.

We are to bring apple recipes to the May meeting. The next meeting will be with Betty Jo McNeil as hostess. Kaye Davis will present the program on Libya and the meeting will be at the Extension Office unless otherwise notified.

Diana Godbey from Home Care Plus gave a very interesting and informative program – “Know Your Numbers to Count on Good Health.” She touched on BMl (Body Mass Index) numbers, high blood pressure, diabetes and cholesterol. We should start a health plan, be active, exercise, eat and drink wisely, avoid tobacco and alcohol and try to cope with stress.
