Progressive CEOS met on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2025, at the residence of Lynn Humphreys. President Patty Gray presented a short story meditation entitled “Ms. Cashew’s Revenge.” Minutes of the last meeting were red by Betty Jo McNeel and approved. Treasurer’s Report was given by Lynn Humphreys. The current balance is $247.38.
Lynn gave the Health Motivator lesson about Fish & Shellfish Allergies. Around 60 % of people don’t realize they have shellfish allergies until adulthood. Allergic reactions have been reported to many common types of fish, such as anchovies, catfish, cod, tilapia, and trout.
Patty reminded members that the Fall Leadership Day will be next Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Renick Community Center. Reservations will be made at the Dutch Haus Restaurant for our December meeting.
Lynn presented the program, “A Guide to Conquering the Houseplant Jungle.” Lynn has many beautiful houseplants and explained how to care for them. She stated that houseplants have different needs for light, water, and humidity. Knowing your plants’ specific requirements is key to success. The most common light requirement is between 12 to 16 hours per day and make sure you look for potting mix that is specifically created for potted plants. Most houseplants thrive in daytime temperature between 70 to 78 degrees.
Refreshments were enjoyed by the members present: Patty Gray, Lynn Humphreys and Betty Jo McNeel. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at the Extension Office.
