Paul Monroe King

White Sulphur Springs-Paul Monroe King, 57, passed away at his home on Dutch Hollow Road early Thursday morning, Apr. 10, 2014.

Born May 7, 1956, he was a son of the late William and Irene Modishure King.

He was a general outside laborer. Paul loved to ginseng and hike in the mountains, especially Greenbrier Mountain. Paul also loved westerns.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Elizabeth Martin King in 2012; an infant daughter, Melanda Sue King; two brothers, Howard King and Billy King; and two sisters, Effie Winebrimmer and Alleen Howard.

Survivors include: three sons, Shawn M. King, Lester B. King and Joshua A. King, all of White Sulphur Springs; daughter, Sarah E. King Morton of White Sulphur Springs; six brothers, Henry, Steve and Gene King all of Alabama, Robert King of Ronceverte, Miner “Bud” King of Monroe County and Leroy King of Alderson; son-in-law, Tim Morton of White Sulphur Springs; sisters, Margaret King of Indiana, Shirley Saunders of Fairlea and Polly Wilson of Creamery; mother-in-law, Audrey Martin of White Sulphur Springs; six grandchildren, Cordell King, Trinity King, Landon Austin King, Gabriel King, Dalton King, Serenity King and Crisanna Elmore, who was like a grandchild.

His memorial service was conducted Wednesday morning, Apr. 16 in the chapel of Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs.

Visitation was one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of sympathy may be made as a financial gift towards the cost of the funeral.
