Ovid Lockhart

White Sulphur Springs-Ovid Lockhart, 86, died Sunday afternoon, June 29, 2014, at his home.

Born in Greenbrier County, Apr. 14, 1928, he was a son of the late Paris and Maude Grogg Lockhart.

Ovid was a member of the Whatcoat United Methodist Church on Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs and was a US Army Veteran. He was a retired plumber with 37 years service at The Greenbrier. Ovid loved his family and his garden.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Marie on Dec. 1, 2012, and many brothers and sisters.

Survivors include: his children, Greg Lockhart (Terri) of White Sulphur Springs and Frank and Ella Haynes of Covington, VA; grandchildren, Frankie Haynes (Rhonda), Angie Lomasney (Mike), Missie Persinger (Jeff), Sharon Bowles, Petey Morgan (Tina), Chris Morgan (Tracy) and Laura Morgan (David Gum – companion); 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Lydia Baker of Huron, OH, Charles Lockhart of Jackson, NC, Ozella Lockhart of Rutledge, TN, and Viva Harrison of Berea, OH.

His funeral service was conducted Wednesday, July 2, at Whatcoat United Methodist Church where Rev. Gerald Roberts and Rev. Lowell O’Dell officiated.

Burial was in Mapledale Cemetery, Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs.

Visitation was held Tuesday evening, July 1, at the church.

Shanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
