Why does Alderson have a leash law for lions? Who is Bricktop? What famous people have stayed at the Alderson Federal Prison Camp? Were there ever any train wrecks in Alderson? These questions and many more are answered in a new little booklet recently released on the history of Alderson.

On Friday, Mar. 13, 6-8 p.m. at the Alderson Visitors Center there will be a book signing and reception for the formal release of “Alderson West Virginia: Historical Highlights and Tantalizing Tidbits, Volume 1.” The booklet was commissioned by Alderson Main Street and written by local author Belinda Anderson. She did extensive research to find interesting stories about Alderson. The booklet has numerous fun facts and pictures.

Alderson Main Street President Betty Thomas said, “This booklet has generated a lot of excitement. It presents some of Alderson’s history in small bites and in a very entertaining way.”

Anderson discovered so much information and so many great stories that Alderson Main Street has decided to create a new volume each year.

So stop by the Alderson Visitor Center on Mar. 13 and experience some place different.
