Each year NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) Greenbrier Valley Affiliate organizes a drive to provide the local libraries with educational books on mental health issues.

This effort is co-sponsored by the Greenbrier Hotel Employees United Way by a donation. The following books were delivered to the Ronceverte Public Library: Troubled Minds: Mental Illness and the Church’s Mission; Stop Walking on Eggshells, 2nd edition; Surviving Schizophrenia: A Family Manual, 6th Edition; and Darkness is My Only Companion: a Christian Response to Mental Illness. Other current magazines on Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety and Depression and Schizophrenia were delivered.

NAMI is unique. We’re more than an organization; we’re a grassroots movement. That means we’re one of you because we understand mental illness and the promise of recovery. Profoundly, we get it …the pain, the confusion, the denial. But also the hope. Our support group meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, 6 p.m., at St. James Episcopal Church on Church Street. For more information, call Carol Jones, 304-445-7866 or Suzanne Williams, 304-646-1236.
