<h5>White Sulphur Springs-Edgar Cleveland Waid, 80, passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at his residence.<\/h5>\r\nBorn June 4, 1934, in Alvon, he was a son of the late Edward and Sona Belle Vance Waid.\r\n\r\nMr. Waid was a retired employee of The Greenbrier and was a US Army Veteran. He was a faithful member of the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church. Mr. Waid loved art and had painted many pictures. He loved to walk.\r\n\r\nIn addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Rider on Apr. 27, 2014.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include: brother, Oliver Waid of Ohio; sisters, Mable Lapastora of Newport News, VA and Mrs. Ruth Braden of White Sulphur Springs; also many nieces, nephews and friends.\r\n\r\nFuneral services were conducted Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church, Rt. 92, White Sulphur Springs where Rev. Gordon Ross officiated.\r\n\r\nBurial was in Alvon Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Alvon.\r\n\r\n<strong>Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral services at the church.<\/strong>\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church.\r\n\r\nFellow members of the Greenbrier Valley Baptist Church served as pallbearers.\r\n\r\nShanklin Funeral Home, White Sulphur Springs, is serving the family.
