Mina Geraldine Thompson Shafer

Lewisburg-Mina Geraldine Thompson Shafer, 92, a lifelong resident of Rupert, passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2018, at The Seasons Place in Lewisburg.

Mina was born Jan. 24, 1926, to the late Wyatt W. and Sarah Viola Jones Thompson.

She was a member of Big Clear Creek Baptist Church in Rupert.

Other than her parents, she was preceded by her husband, William “Bill” Clyde Shafter in 2008; sister, Hazel LeMasters; and brothers, James “Sonny” Thompson and Rayburn “Buddy” Thompson.

Survivors include, daughters, Wyon Wheatley of Lewisburg, Jill Mayer (Mike) of Petersburg, VA and Billie Shafer of Ronceverte; sisters, Clara Henderson of Hopewell, VA and Betty Alderson of Alderson; three grandchildren, Tracy Stephens, Sarah Zylstra and Bill Wheatley; fine great-grandchildren; and 19 nieces and nephews.

There will be a private service held at Wallace Memorial Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel in Clintonville with Pastor Glen Kuhn officiating.

Donations of Sympathy may be made to the Rupert Public Library, 602 Nicholas Street, Rupert, WV 25984.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
