Now that the NCAA Wrestling Championships and the West Virginia State Wrestling Championships are over, here is what I learned from them.

Many young athletes had their dreams shattered. Many young athletes worked their entire life to only find out that they came up short of their lifelong dream. Many young athletes have no chance to ever achieve that lifelong dream again. That door has been closed! For many that way of life is now over. That way of life has been the only life which they have ever known. That way of life has been the only life which they have ever WANTED to have known. They have lived it for every single day and now it is gone. But here is the Great news from all of this. TODAY IS A NEW DAY! Today is a new opportunity for every single one of them. The sun will come up today. Their coaches, friends and families still love them. They still have a large group of supporters. For every door which has been closed, ten new doors are waiting to be opened. By the way, this story belongs to all of us. You do not have to wrestle at the NCAA Championships or the State Championships to experience victory or defeat. No matter what happened to us yesterday, today is a new opportunity. Today is a new chance at changing our entire life for the better! Thank you for reading my articles this season and let’s make the most out of TODAY!!

Trivia: Which Greenbrier East Wrestling alumni wrestled in the Super Regional Tournament this year? It was the qualifier for the NCAA Division 2 National Championships.

Upcoming events and highlights: Our annual Banquet will be Tuesday, April 2, at 6 p.m. in the WVU building at the State Fairgrounds. All are welcome and it usually is a time for fun, family and friends. A quick shout out to our “Honorary Alumni” Cody Richmond, who became an All-American this year wrestling for Liberty University.

Eastern Greenbrier Wrestling Club: There are Open Mats on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Opportunities to get better.

Follow us on Twitter @CoachMiluk and Facebook at Greenbrier East Spartan Wrestling.

Miluk humor: The other day I had my credit card stolen, I did not bother to report it, because the thief spends less than my wife. Ha!

Trivia answer: Levi Hobbs ’18 (Alderson Broaddus) wrestled in the Super Regional this year and won a match. Wrestling at the Regionals as a freshman is big-time!
