Greenbrier East’s girls and boys track runners of the week are Lillie Shinaberry, Fiona Beery, Caleb Talbott and Justin Sexton.

Lillie Shinaberry is a new member of the track team. Her favorite subject is science. Lillie likes to run for the love of the sport and competition. Lillie’s favorite quote is, “Treat people the way you want to be treated. Talk to people the way you want to be talked to. Respect is earned, not given.” Lillie will be challenging herself with the girls’ sprint team this season.

Fiona Beery, a returning member to the team, states that her favorite subject in school is AP psychology. She runs because she likes the personal challenge and the drive that it brings out in herself.  Fiona’s favorite motivational quote is, “Don’t limit your challenges, challenge your limits.” Fiona has never been afraid of a challenge last season her relay team set a new school record.

Another new member to the team is Caleb Talbott. Caleb is joining the team after moving to our area from the Midwest last summer. His favorite subject in school is math. Caleb, whose father just retired from the military, states his favorite quote is, “All gave some, some gave all.” We are excited to have Caleb as part of the GEHS team track team and appreciate his father for the years of service to our country.

Justin Sexton, a senior on the team, has been running since his 6th grade year. His favorite subject in school is human anatomy and physiology. He says that he likes to run track because the sport has his heart. It has shown him mental strength and well as true speed. Justin’s favorite quote is, “It’s very hard in the beginning to understand that the whole idea is not to beat the other runners. Eventually you learn the competition is against the little voice inside you that wants you to quit.” Justin’s mental strength and speed has proven that he is not quitter as he hopes to push himself for a school record this season.
