Melvin Carlos Huffman

On Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, Melvin Carlos Huffman, 84, passed away at his home at Wayside, WV. Carlos was surrounded by his family. Carlos was born June 22, 1941, to Howard and Barbara Huffman of Creamery, WV.
Carlos met and married Gethyl Sue Ferguson on Aug. 24, 1964. They were married 53 years. Carlos lost Gethyl Sue in March, 2018, and a brother, Richard Huffman in 2009.
Carlos and Gethyl had three children, Melvin Lee now at White Sulphur, WV, Fred Samuel, and Trisha Louise, at home.
Carlos had worked for RBS at Caldwell, WV for 19½ years, Willy Brothers of Hinton, WV, Wind Ridge farm, owned by Jim Sprouse, and for Larry Echols of Gap Mills, WV. Carlos also worked for Jim Beckett at Pickaway, WV, and for a coal mine at Gilbert, WV. Also, William Walker, at Willow Bend, on the dairy farm.
Carlos enjoyed woodworking in his spare time. He made several small stools that he gave away. He was always busy at something.
Carlos was a member of the Bethel Church at Creamery, WV. He served God for 45 years mowing the yard, cleaning the church, and any other job that came along.
“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” (Mark 10:45).
Besides his three children, Carlos is survived by a brother, Danny Huffman (Lydia), and a sister, Etta Wilson (Charles), both of Pickaway, WV, and a sister-in-law, Donna Midcat (Ed) of Creamery, WV, and sister-in-law, Judy Hopcraft, of Hardy, VA. Carlos and his family always said Melissa Garcia of Barger Springs, WV, was another member of his family. She is very special to them. A cousin, Mary Huffman, is another special lady to Carlos and his family.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, at Groves-Mann Funeral Home in Union, WV, with Pastor Jim Wentz and Pastor Terry Utterback officiating. Burial will follow in Campground Cemetery in Creamery, WV, with Bryan Huffman, Darris Huffman, Wade Lively, Glen Lively, Matthew Huffman, Heath Huffman, and Shane Clarkson serving as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
