On the morning of Dec. 11, members of the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop in the Fairlea area. Following a brief on-scene investigation, four individuals were taken into custody, three of whom were from Ohio.
A local resident, Jed Williams, was arrested and charged with child endangerment, possession of illegal narcotics, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. An 18-year-old male from Akron, OH, Mayhem Waheem, was also arrested and charged with child endangerment, possession of illegal narcotics with intent to deliver cocaine and fentanyl, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Additionally, two juvenile males from Ohio who were occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. Both juveniles were charged with possession with intent to deliver controlled substances and conspiracy.
The two adult suspects were processed at the Greenbrier County Sheriff’s Office and subsequently transported to Southern Regional Jail. The juvenile offenders were processed and transported to a juvenile detention facility.
“This case demonstrates our continued commitment to aggressively prosecuting those who bring dangerous narcotics into Greenbrier County, especially when juveniles are involved,” said the Greenbrier County Prosecuting Attorney. “We will not tolerate individuals or organizations that exploit young people or threaten the safety of our communities. My office will work closely with law enforcement to ensure those responsible are held fully accountable under the law.” The Prosecuting Attorney has filed a motion to revoke Jed Williams’ bond.
“I commend the members of our Street Crimes Unit for their dedication, professionalism, and tireless efforts in removing drug dealers from our streets,” said the Greenbrier County Sheriff. “Drug trafficking organizations from Akron and Cleveland may believe they can evade law enforcement by sending juveniles into our county to distribute their poison, but they are mistaken. We will pursue anyone – regardless of age or origin – who attempts to bring this evil into Greenbrier County.”
