Lewisburg-Marvin Wayne VanBuren, 79, went home to be with the Lord following a long illness on Saturday, Mar. 30, 2019, at Greenbrier Health Care Center in Fairlea.

Marvin was born Feb. 24, 1940, in Ronceverte to the late Ruben Lawson VanBuren and Hazel Anna Massie VanBuren.

Marvin attended Rhema Christian Center; he loved his family dearly and working in his flower garden, especially his roses. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and was a retired painter with The Greenbrier Hotel.

Other than his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by a sister, Elreta VanBuren; and two brothers, Richard VanBuren and Norman VanBuren.

Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Rita VanBuren; sons, Wayne VanBuren and wife Missy, and Mark VanBuren all of Lewisburg; grandchildren, Carleigh, Zackery, Aimee and Grayson VanBuren; great-grandchildren, Allison Davidson and Paisley Ryals; brother, Elbert VanBuren and wife Barbara of Ronceverte; sisters, Anna Gail O’Brien and Delores Hoylman both of Ronceverte and Betty Mulkey and husband Charlie of Alderson.

Funeral service was held Thursday, Apr. 4, at Rhema Christian Center in Fairlea where Pastor Stewart Farley and Pastor Emory Hanna officiated. Burial followed in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Family received friends Wednesday evening, Apr. 3, at the church in Fairlea.

In lieu of flowers, donations of sympathy may be made to Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg, Calvary United Methodist Church, Richlands, or to Rhema Christian Center.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
