Marshall Rowan Honaker

Alderson-Marshall Rowan “Mannie” Honaker, 56, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2018, at the home of his mother in Alderson, following a short illness.

Born Oct. 16, 1961, in Union, he was the son of Elizabeth Ann Lephew Honaker of Alderson, and the late Lacy Rowan “Red” Honaker.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Janet Gadd.

Mr. Honaker was a former water well drilling operator, having worked at Honaker’s Well Drilling Company, Alderson, for many years.  He was also the former owner and operator of the Alderson Ashland Station, and was also a farmer. He attended Talcott High School in Talcott, and was of the Baptist Faith.  He was a lifetime member of the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society (B.A.S.S.).  Mr. Honaker enjoyed farming, hunting, participating in drag racing, and was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Wendy Lee Gadd Honaker of Alderson; his mother, Elizabeth Ann Lephew Honaker of Alderso; brother, Raymond Honaker and wife Kamia of Alderson; five sisters, Karen Pinter and husband John of Spotsylvania, VA, Mary Ann Bowyer and husband Richard, Jr. of Alderson, Vickie Wickline and husband Orville of White Sulphur Springs, Carol Hooper and husband, Cordell of Pensacola, FL, and Louise Ogden and husband Ora of Bainbridge, OH; his father-in-law, John Gadd and companion Pam of Alderson; sister-in-law, Terry Ambler of Alderson; a special nephew, Rick Bowyer, III and wife Jaime of Alderson; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 30, at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, where Pastor Clark Morgan officiated.  Burial followed at Wallace Memorial Cemetery, Clintonville. Friends called Wednesday afternoon at the funeral home.

Serving as pallbearers were Raymond Honaker, Brian Honaker, Junior Wickline,   Ricky Bowyer, Scott Pinnell, Dickie Bowyer, Skip Thompson, and Adam Bowyer.  Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Donnie Carter, Sammy Walker, and Daniel Boswell.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations of sympathy be made to Lobban Funeral Home, P.O. Box 148, Alderson, WV 24910 to help the family with funeral expenses.
