Washington, D.C. \u2013 U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced a total of $6,157,624 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Resources (HHS) Administration for Children and Families (ACF) for AFL-CIO Appalachian Council Head Start. This funding will allow this program to continue to provide educational, health, parent, community, and social services to children and their families living at or below the federal poverty guidelines.\r\n\u201cIn West Virginia, we prioritize our commitments based on our values, and that means keeping our promises to those who matter the most to us, our children,\u201d Senator Manchin said. \u201cOur West Virginia children and families who participate in Head Start rely on this funding for crucial health, nutrition, education and social services.
