Fall has arrived and it’s time for Main Street White Sulphur Spring’s Annual Scarecrow Lightpole Decorating Contest. The seasonal promotion begins Oct. 2, and the deadline to reserve a pole is Sept. 29. Businesses, clubs, families, individuals, schools and organizations are encouraged to reserve a light pole for their scarecrow and enter into this fun contest.
“The Scarecrow Light pole Decorating Contest is one of the most popular events of the year. People love driving through our town and looking at all of the scarecrows. The creativity of the businesses and organizations is really incredible. People come from all over the county and as far away as Roanoke just to see them,” said Sadie Fraley, executive director of Main Street White Sulphur Springs.
Participation is easy. Simply contact Main Street White Sulphur Springs at 304-536-5060 or via email at director@wssmainstreet.org. There is no fee to enter.
Scarecrows will be displayed from Oct. 2 until Nov. 2 along Main Street in downtown White Sulphur Springs. The Main Street Committee will judge the scarecrows this year. The first place winner will receive a “White Sulphur Springs Gift Basket” full of White Sulphur Spring’s mementos, gift certificates and gifts.
