Mac Spangler, a resident at the Brier Rehab and Nursing Facility in Ronceverte, said he wanted to participate in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s held on Sept. 27. Even though he usually uses a wheelchair, Mac stated that he was going to walk across the finish line. With the help of his grandchildren, that’s exactly what he did.

The Walk has been held on the

New River Community College grounds for the last five years. This year 150 walkers participated and together we raised over $15,000. Thank you to the Osteopathic School students and all the volunteers who helped. For more information about the WV Alzheimer’s Association call 304-343-2717, their Helpline at 800-272-3900, or at www.alz.org/wv.
