Alderson-Leslie Lee “Shorty’’ Phillips, Jr., 85, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center.

Shorty was born Mar. 10, 1931, in Meadow Bridge to the late Leslie Lee Phillips and Beulah Lea Arbaugh.

He worked as a Powder Monkey for the Quarry. Previously, he was also a United States Marine. Shorty was a very active member and Deacon of the Grace Bible Church in Asbury.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Lola Eggleston and Rosaline Shafer and brothers, Wesley Phillips and Wilbur Phillips.

Leslie is survived by sister, Etta Lane Gwinn and husband Jack of Gaithersburg, MD, as wall as many nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 28, at Grace Bible Church in Asbury where Pastors Don Smith and Mike Teubert officiated. Burial was in Alderson Cemetery where Leslie was laid to rest beside his parents.

The family received friends Wednesday evening, July 27, at Grace Bible Church, Asbury.
