“Mountaineer Veterans Garden of Honor.” Over 11,000 flags displayed to honor West Virginia’s fallen service members since WWI, lit by 1,000 solar lights. Viewable at the Rt. 20 & Rt. 60 intersection, in front of Rainelle Medical Center.
Open Daily: Gold Star Mothers Living Memorial Apple Orchard, 290 Tincher Rd, Rainelle, WV 25962 (Follow signs from Simms Mt. Rd.)
Thursday, May 22
12 noon – Welcome Escort: Run for the Wall riders and Task Force Omega of Kentucky through Rainelle
5 to 8 p.m. – Dinner at Rainelle Moose Lodge (Donations accepted; Free for Gold Star families and veterans)
Friday, May 23
9 a.m. – Patriotic Art & Essay Presentations (TFO/Kentucky) – Rainelle Elementary Gym
3 p.m. – MURBLE Tournament with Patriotic Rainelle Elementary Essay Winners, Rainelle Elementary School lawn
7 p.m. – Candlelight Memorial Ceremony at the Mountaineer Veterans Garden of Honor (Flag Display) Rt. 20 & Rt. 60 intersection. Rain location: Rainelle Elementary Gym
Saturday, May 24
11 a.m. – Parade lineup
12 noon – Parade begins (Grand Marshals: WV Gold Star Mothers)
11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. – Food Truck: Beckley Sno Biz Redneck Hibachi – Rainelle City Hall
11 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Band: Thomas Danley – City Hall lawn (Bring a chair)
1 p.m. – Task Force Omega visit with Rainelle Health Care Center residents
1 p.m. – Parade Awards at 811th reserve Center Parking Lot. Must be present to receive award.
1:30 p.m. – MURBLE Tournament featuring Gold Star families, JROTC, First Responders, Teachers, News Media & Veterans
2 to 4 p.m. – Band: Hidden Mountain Treasures – City Hall lawn (Bring a chair)
7 to 9 p.m. – Band: Goodson Boys – City Hall lawn (Bring a chair) (Rain location for bands and games: Rainelle Elementary Gym)
9:30 p.m. – Aerial Fireworks Display – Industrial Park (Rain backup date: Monday, May 26)
Sunday, May 25
9 a.m. – Sunday Worship with Task Force Omega – Ponderosa Lodge, Big Sewell Mountain (Rt. 60)
Monday, May 26
Final day to view Mountaineer Veterans Garden of Honor
Tuesday, May 27
10 a.m. – Free flag pickup and donations at the Garden of Honor site (Flags available for individuals, groups, and organizations) T-Shirts for sale at the site
