Ronceverte-R. Karen Hawkey, 70, passed away Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 at the Peyton Hospice House in Lewisburg, WV.

She was born in Beckley, a daughter of the late Alex James and Margaret Evelyn Childers. 

Karen started a lifelong career in the insurance business, working for years for Gaston Caperton in Beckley and retiring in her career with State Farm Insurance in Fredericksburg, MD. Karen was an avid reader and enjoyed biking, adventures with friends or her family, and spending time with her greatest joy, her grandsons, Alex and Ryan.

Karen is survived by her daughter, Tia Michelle Daniello; her husband, Rob of Bayville, NJ; her brothers, James W. Childers (Lisa) of Lewisburg, John Childers (Sarah) of Beckley; her grandsons, Alex Robert Daniello and Ryan Daniello; nieces, Jeni Childers Baker (Steve), Brenley and Lydia Baker of Lewisburg, Jade Childers of Charlotte; nephews, James “J.J.” Childers (Lesley) of Charlotte, and Tristan Childers of Beckley.

Services will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Tia and family would like donations to be made to Peyton Hospice House, 1265 Maplewood Ave., Lewisburg WV 24901. 

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
