This month’s Writers Station, an open mic for writers, will take place on Saturday, June 21 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Train Depot, #1 Railroad Street in Alderson. Doors will open at 5:30.
Bring your original work, or a special piece written by another, that you would like to share. Poetry, prose, memoirs, short fiction, and essays – all are welcome. And this month, we also invite storytellers to bring their favorite tales.
June marks the official start of summer, with numerous events and special days celebrated throughout the month. School is out and vacation is in! Travel may be in many plans, and staycations will offer backyard barbecues and picnics in the park. On June 15, we celebrate everyone who is a dad, whether by blood or choice. The summer solstice is right around the corner, falling this year on June 20. By that time, the buds of May will bloom along with June brides. It is also Pride Month, which means the rainbow is in. And it’s National Rivers Month. So, if you have a reading that celebrates our own beautiful Greenbrier, now is the time to share it. Mark your calendars and plan to come out for an evening with talented writers and readers.
This event is free, open to all who would like to read, as well as those who would like to listen, and takes place on the third Saturday of each month, except December.
The Writers Station is sponsored by Alderson Main Street and is produced and hosted by Reni Fulton and Cheryl Mansley. For more information, text Reni at 304-994-1703, or contact Cheryl at 304-702-0554 or cherylmansley@gmail.com.
