Jerry Shaver

Hubbard, Iowa-Jerry Shaver, 55, died Sunday, May 24, 2015, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Jerry Kevin Shaver was born May 29, 1959, in Lewisburg, to Robert (Bob) and Ada Sue Meadows Shaver.

He graduated from Greenbrier East High School with the class of 1978.

On Mar. 8, 1986, he was united in marriage to Belinda Morton. Jerry enlisted in US Army after high school and retired in July 1999 as a 1st Sgt. after 21 years of service. Upon moving to Iowa in 1999, Jerry was privileged to work for NASA in 2003. He worked at Innovative Lighting in Story City from 2003 to 2014.

Jerry was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church and American Legion, Post #4 in Hubbard, IA.

He passed away with his family by his side May 24, 2015, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Jerry is survived by: his wife, Belinda of Hubbard; daughters, Melanie (James) Rahn, Amy (Christopher) Foust, Bettina Papenfus, Desiree Shaver and Kayley (Jonathan) Bowen; eight grandchildren; mother, Ada Sue Meadows Shaver; and brothers, Richard (Kathy) Shaver and Roger (Neva) Shaver; along with his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by father, Robert (Bob) Shaver; brothers, Grover Shaver and James (Jim) Shaver; aunts, Belma Shaver, Robbie Shaver and Eva Mann; and uncle, Hubert Shaver.

His funeral service was held Thursday, May 28, at the Salem Methodist Church in Hubbard. Burial was in the Hubbard Cemetery.

Visitation was Wednesday evening at the church.
