Lewisburg-Hilda S. Johnson, 86, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Peyton Hospice House in Fairlea.\r\nShe was born Nov. 9, 1929, in Sinks Grove, to the late Ashby Angus and Vida Hinkle Scott.\r\nHilda graduated from Union High School and went on to attend Greenbrier College for Women. She married R. Wellington Johnson in June of 1950. Mrs. Johnson was a Charter member of the First Baptist Church of Fairlea.\r\nOther than her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Scott.\r\nSurvivors include her husband of 66 years, R. Wellington Johnson; son, Dr. John Johnson (Kim Carter); and two daughters, Dr. Jane Johnson and Ruth Bartenslager (Arthur). She had five grandchildren, Annie Lorensen, David Johnson, Zach Bartenslager, Alison Bartenslager and Abbie Bartenslager.\r\nThe family would like to give a special thank you to her loving caregivers, Susie Ridgeway, Brenda McKinney and Letha Bowyer.\r\nA memorial service was held on Monday, Aug. 1, at the First Baptist Church in Fairlea where Dr. Dallas Smith officiated.
