Lewisburg-Helen Lada Cheuvront, 97, passed away on Saturday, Mar. 30, 2019.

Helen was born Mar. 8, 1922, at Number 8 PK, a mining camp in Clarksburg, to Matthew D. and Mary (Churan) Lada.

She was a devoted mother and career working woman. During WWII she moved to Detroit where she stayed with her aunt and uncle while employed as a technician testing aircraft engines. Returning to Clarksburg after the war she married Joe Cheuvront in 1948. In addition to raising her children, she worked in several family businesses over the years; retiring as office manager at Weslakin Corporation. In her retirement years with Joe she resided in Hylton Head Island, SC, and enjoyed traveling and socializing with friends and family.

As a young woman she played accordion in the Lada family polka band. She loved to sing and could often be heard singing or humming while preparing a meal for the family. She was an avid WVU fan and enjoyed attending football games with the family. She had three children, Tom, Jean and Janet.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, Matthew; mother, Mary; daughter, Jean; husband, Joe; sisters, Mary Vallelonga and Susan Criss; and brothers, Joe and Mike Lada.

She is survived by two children, Tom (Eleonora Grey) Cheuvront and Janet (Scott) Powell; four grandchildren, Holly McCallister, Melody Cheuvront, Zachary (Rebekah) Taylor and Joseph (Katie Rollins) Cheuvront; two step-grandchildren; Brandon Powell and Elizabeth Lilly; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; sister-in-law, Virginia May Walker; and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Saturday Apr. 6, at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11:30 at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg.

A reception will be held at 1 p.m. at the Elks Club in Lewisburg.

Entombment will be in Greenbrier Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Lewisburg.

Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home in Lewisburg is in charge of arrangements.
